The weather in June is already winter-like; the days are very short, and June 21 marks the longest night of the entire year. The sun rises at 9:59 AM (GMT-3) and sets at 5:11 PM (GMT-3).
Historically, the city holds a grand celebration of “the Longest Night at the End of the World” with various performances by national and local artists that can last up to a week. Due to the pandemic, the celebrations were postponed last year and again in 2021

Several trails remain open during the snow season. The most recommended route is the trek to Emerald Lagoon, which is frozen and covered in snow. Another option is the Martial Glacier, located 7 km from the city center.

In the valley area, snow accumulates and lasts throughout the winter season, making it the perfect spot to fully enjoy everything that winter has to offer. Here are the activities available in June 2021.
Cross-Country Skiing
The cross-country skiing trails in the valley are already open. This activity can be enjoyed by the whole family and requires no previous experience. If you’re planning a trip to Ushuaia, we recommend spending a day skiing.
Snowmobiling
Snowmobile tours are also available through the valley, along specially groomed trails for this activity. Each passenger drives their own snowmobile, following a guide. Tours are offered in distances of 5, 10, and 15 km. If you’re a nature and adventure enthusiast, don’t miss our guided tour to Escondido and Fagnano Lakes in Ushuaia.
What to Wear in Ushuaia in June
To visit the south, you’ll need warm clothing for the cold, frost, and snow. We recommend dressing in layers, with lighter, thinner layers close to the skin, like a long-sleeve thermal shirt, a fleece, and a snow jacket. It’s also essential to have warm, waterproof clothing, including boots, gloves, snow pants, a snow jacket, hat, and scarf.
If you don’t want to make big purchases, you can rent everything—from boots to gloves—at the rental shops in the city center.
