This excursion proposes you to visit the Centinela islet, where the remains of the Perito Francisco Pascasio Moreno, father of the National Parks in Argentina, rest, and then arrive at the Cantaros Waterfall, during one hour of navigation.
Setting sail from Puerto Pañuelo on the Llao Llao Peninsula, this excursion offers you the opportunity to explore, during an hour of navigation, Centinela Islet, where the remains of Perito Francisco Pascasio Moreno rest, the father of National Parks in Argentina. Then, you will arrive at Cascada de los Cantaros. Afterward, as you journey uphill, you can immerse yourself in the lush vegetation of the Valdivian rainforest, reach Lake Cantaros, the birthplace of the waterfall, and enjoy the impressive presence of a larch tree that’s over 1,500 years old.
You’ll sail just five more minutes to finally reach Puerto Blest, a place that has amazed tourists from diverse countries around the world for years. From there, you can explore the bay and the shores of Lake Frias, whose distinct green waters originate from one of the glaciers of Cerro Tronador, the natural boundary between Argentina and Chile.
ADDITIONAL LAKE FRÍAS
This extension of the excursion departs from Puerto Blest. You will travel 3 km by bus to Puerto Alegre. From there, you’ll board a modern vessel to navigate Lake Frías. The unique green color of its waters is due to tiny particles of pulverized rock from the glacier’s contact with the walls of Cerro Tronador, whose imposing white peak stands out amidst the wooded landscape, a view that can only be appreciated from the boat. After sailing for about 20 minutes, you’ll arrive at Puerto Frías, near the border with Chile, where you will spend a few minutes. Then, you will make the reverse journey towards Puerto Pañuelo (Subject to availability).
